Representatives of the New Jersey State Library and the Mercer County Library System were on hand giving demonstrations of the NJWorks@yourlibrary resources available to job seekers at the Hiring Our Heroes job fair at the Sun Bank Arena, Trenton, on September 12. Hosted by the American Legion and U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as part of a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment, the arena floor was packed with employers looking for qualified employees.
Present to open the fair were Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, and (seated from left) Michael L. Cunniff, the adjutant general, Don Tretola, NJESGR director of the Military Employment Initiative Program, and Mary Ellen Clark, assistant commissioner of the NJ Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development.
In addition to employers, counselors and representatives were available from the NJ State Library’s NJWorks@yourlibrary program, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Vet2Vet, Vet4Warriors, U.S. Veterans Administration, county service officers, and Attorney Generals’ office (for veterans’ civil rights education), providing veterans with additional information regarding their state and federal benefits.
